DistillPrompt
Distill rough prompts into production-quality prompts — one keystroke, any app, on-device by default.
Overview
DistillPrompt is summoned with a global hotkey from any app — a focused panel drops in, you paste a rough draft, and it rewrites it into a clear, production-quality prompt in one keystroke. It runs on Apple's on-device Foundation Models out of the box, so it's free, private, and works offline. Prefer a frontier model? Bring your own key for Anthropic, OpenAI, Groq, Ollama, and more.
Features
Everything you need to ship a sharper prompt
One-keystroke distill
Hit your global hotkey from any app, paste a rough draft, press ⌘↵. DistillPrompt rewrites it into a production-grade prompt — then ⌘↵ again copies it and closes. Zero mouse.
On-device by default
Runs on Apple's built-in Foundation Models — free, offline, nothing leaves your Mac. No account, no API key, no cloud required to get started.
Bring any model
Prefer a frontier model? Point it at Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter, Groq, Ollama, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Your keys stay in an encrypted local file — never on our servers.
Presets & fine controls
Built-in presets for code, writing, and more — fully editable, plus your own custom meta-prompts. Dial in tone, length, and audience from the Advanced drawer.
Clarify & variations
When a draft is ambiguous, the model asks a few sharp questions before rewriting. Generate three distinct variations and pick the one that fits.
History & auto-update
Every distilled prompt is saved locally for reuse. The direct download is notarized and signed, with one-click Sparkle updates you control; the Mac App Store version updates through the App Store.
A closer look
Glass UI, keyboard-first, on your wallpaper
One morphing glass field swaps draft ↔ result in place. Variations and Advanced one keystroke away.
Pick a backend — on-device Apple FM, or bring your own key. Keys stored encrypted, never in Keychain.
On-device by default
Your prompts and keys stay on your Mac. No telemetry, no tracking, no cloud required. Bring your own API key only if you want a frontier model — and it's stored encrypted, locally.
